Best Money Saving Tips for Christmas

With Christmas right around the corner, it's time for some Christmas shopping. I've put together a list of some great money saving tips to help you not break the bank this season. I'm all about decorating on a budget and affortable fashion, both for yourself and your home. So, when it comes to Christmas shopping I'm all about getting a great deal. Here are some of my favorite ways to save money around the holidays.

1. Shop Online

There are so many deals that different stores have around this time of year that are online only. Target and Old Navy are two stores that come to mind for these types of deals. Be sure to check stores' websites before you head out, there may be a great online only deal. Plus you get to shop in your PJ and avoid lines. WIN!

2. Target Cartwheel

If you're not using Target's Cartwheel App you need to be. I use this every time I go to Target, which is a lot. Our Target has groceries too so that's where I do a lot of my grocery shopping and the Cartwheel app has saved me a lot of money. All you do is scan the item in the app and it will tell you if there is a deal on it or not. You need this app. Trust me.

3. Target Gift Cards

Target often has sales where if you buy a certain number of something you get a $5 or $10 gift card. For example, there may be a deal where if you buy 3 Tide, Gain, Bounty or Charmin items as signed you will get a $5 gift card. You can then use that $5 gift card on a Christmas gift. If you do this throughout the year, you can have a stash of these gift cards saved up to do your Christmas shopping with.

4. Search Online for Discount Codes

Every time I shop online I search for discount codes from that store. For example, if I'm shopping at I will search online for Ulta coupon codes. A lot of times Retail Me Not will have some codes that work. I don't buy anything online without doing this.

5. Budget

This may sound obvious, but it's something that is so important to do. We make a budget all year round, not just for Christmas. But, if you don't do it for each month, at least try it for Christmas gifts. Set a spending limit for each person you're buying for, and stick to it! Writing it down or doing a spreadsheet on the computer will keep you accountable. Each time you buy a gift, record it in the budget. You can then see how much you have left to spend on each person. This is a great way to keep track of what you've spent so you don't go over budget.

All of these tips can be used all year round, but especially around Christmas time! I hope they help you save some extra money this year!

These candles from Bridgeway Scented Market are so good! I have Shiplap and Chippy White.

I also love Philosophy's Amazing Grace. It smells so good!

These stud earrings are a staple for me. I wear them all the time.

This camp mug is amazing. It keeps drinks hot for a long time. It's the best travel mug I've used.

Elf makes great cosmetics and accessories and the prices are perfect. These brushes would make a great gift.

This makeup bag from Elizabeth Ashlie is great gift idea. It can be used for many things, not just makeup. You could use it as a pencil case or as an organizer in your purse.

5 Ingredients for the Perfect Farmhouse Style

It's no secret that the farmhouse style is popular right now. There is something so classic and simple about this growing trend. The wood tones and the white make for a relaxing space that anyone would love to live in. I've come up with 5 "ingredients" to achieve the farmhouse style everyone loves.

5 Ingredients for the Perfect Farmhouse Style

1. Wood Tones

The farmhouse style is warm and cozy. Adding touches of wood will help bring that into the space. I love wooden vases, dough bowls, and wooded signs. These are all great ways to incorporate some wood tones to achieve the farmhouse style.

2. White

Farmhouses are light and airy. A great way to get a light and airy feel is to decorate with whites. This isn't to say you can't use colors in your decor, but a more neutral color palette will help achieve the desired look of a natural, cozy farmhouse. I love to use white furniture such as sofas and chairs, pillows, and dishes. The neutral look is perfect for a farmhouse.

3. Hardwood Floors

This isn't something that would be a quick change, but if you are redoing your home and want a farmhouse look, then hardwoods are the way to go.

4. Open Shelving

Many farmhouse kitchens have open shelving. This is a great way to display nice dishes and it opens the space up too. I like the idea of adding a few open shelves in addition to your cabinets. That way you can still have the functionality of the cabinets but the look of the open shelving.

5. Shiplap

This may be the most popular of all of these ingredients, thanks to Joanna Gaines. The texture it brings to a space can't be duplicated. Whether it's painted white or left natural, shiplap is a great way to incorporate farmhouse style in your home.

So, with a little bit of wood elements, a sprinkle of white, some hardwood floors, a dash of open shelving, and a heap of shiplap, you will have the perfect farmhouse style.

I hope you enjoyed this little farmhouse style "recipe".

Fall Decor

As we are entering into fall, it is the perfect time to switch things up in our homes. An easy way to do that is to add some fall colors. To do this you don't need to completely redo a room. There's no need to repaint walls or even get new furniture. Adding fall colors is as easy as switching up accessories. These can be pillows, picture frames, or even kitchen towels. It is really easy to change things up between seasons. I want to share some of my favorite ways to do this as well as some of my favorite colors for fall.

An easy way to switch up the look of a room is with pillows. Here are a few pillows that I found that add some fall feel to a room.

As you can see, these pillows aren't all the same pattern or color. There are different ways to incorporate fall. Autumn colors are a great way to transition into the season. Blues and oranges and golds are perfect. Another way is to add neutrals. Beige and grey work well. Plum is also a great fall color. Tribal prints are very popular for this time of year so adding some of those is a nice way to bring in the fall feeling. All of these pillows are from Target and would be a great addition to your fall decor.

Another great way to incorporate fall is with wall decor.

These are some really fun decorations all from Hobby Lobby. Each one has incorporated fall colors. Chalkboard art and wood are two great trends for fall. The banner would look great over a fireplace or even strung inside a large picture frame. It's fun to get creative with seasonal decor.

Last but not least let's talk about the kitchen. There are many ways to add some fall into your kitchen. One way is with towels. I've talked about it before; towels are a great way to change up the look of your kitchen. Here are some of my favorites.

I love these towels. The first one is perfect with the print. The color is a nice neutral which is great. The next one is a plaid and what's more fall than plaid. Then we have leaves. I love the white in the background with the beautiful fall colored leaves. Simple but still perfect for the season. Finally we have a turkey. Turkeys and plaid, that's fall! I love the colors in the towel, the gold and blue are so pretty together. These towels are from World Market and Kohls.

I hope this helped you discover some simple ways to transition your home into this next season. Fall is one of my favorite times of year and I love decorating for it.
