Front Door Update

We have a new front door and we couldn't be more excited! As I said in my previous post, there are a few things we want to do to improve our curb appeal and a new front door was one of them. Well, we can cross one thing off our list. We also now have a working doorbell, win!

Here is our new door!

It's not completely done, we still need to paint around it and add trim, but we are so happy with how it looks!

We weren't looking for a front door when we got it. We were at Home Depot getting a new back door and we saw this front door on major sale. It was too good to pass up. We knew we wanted a new one eventually so we got it!

Little by little we are updating our curb appeal!

I'll update as we continue adding things so check back soon!

Curb Appeal

Curb appeal is an aspect of design that some people forget about. It's not the interior of a house so it's sometimes not associated with interior design. However, it is still design. I love driving around looking at houses and admiring the look from the outside. I love looking at landscaping, house colors, and front porches.

Enhancing the curb appeal of our house is on our to-do list. We love the way our house looks on the outside, but there are some updates we want to do.

This is our house currently.

There isn't a ton we want to do, but just enough to make it look updated. We aren't changing anything about the house itself, however, we are getting a new front door. We want to pull up the green bushes by the front window and the big tree by the driveway. The huge bush by the steps needs some serious trimming. We are waiting to see if the leaves fall before we do too much to it.

Adding some flowers and small shrubbery in the front and along the walkway is also on our list. We would love to do a brick paver along the walkway and the steps and have also talked about adding a railing along the steps and the porch.

These are all things we will change over time. We have a few other projects we want to tackle inside that will probably take priority.

Check back soon for an update on our front door! We are installing it this weekend and I am so excited!

What Is E-Design

Some people may be wondering what e-design is, how it works, and who it's for. Since this is something I love to do, I thought that I would explain what exactly it is.

First let's talk about what e-design is. E-design is virtual interior design that provides you with a complete design of your room personalized to your style and needs. It is a way to have someone help decorate your home from anywhere. It's typically cheaper than traditional interior design and is convenient because you can add the suggested pieces whenever you want.

The process is simple. On my e-design page you will see all the services I offer.

Once you select the service you want you will see a questionnaire to fill out. This questionnaire will help me make sure I am meeting all your needs for the room. The questions are simple. For example, I will ask the dimensions of the room. This is so that I know how large certain pieces of furniture can be. I will also ask your style preferences and your likes and dislikes. This is so that I can make sure I am picking out pieces that you will love. If you like modern design, that's how I will design your storyboard. If you like rustic elements, I will make sure to tie that in. The whole process is to make sure you get the exact look you want.

After you fill out the questionnaire I will get started on designing your storyboard!

Here is an example storyboard I designed for a master bedroom.

This is an example of what a finished storyboard looks like. You will also receive a list of all the products and a link to purchase each of them.

Now that you understand more about what e-design is and how the process works you may be wondering who it's for. It's for anyone!

That's what's so great about this service. Anyone, anywhere can receive this service because it's all done virtually. There's no need to live in the same city or even the same state. I live in Ohio, but I can work with someone in California.

It's also great for anyone who doesn't want to purchase everything all at once. Once you receive your storyboard you can implement the design in your own time. There is no pressure to purchase everything all at the same time. If you only want to add the throw pillows for now, you can do that. If you want to purchase everything you can do that too. It's up to you.

I hope this helped you better understand what e-design is and how it works.

I am currently running a special on all storyboards. Use code LEAVES and receive 15% off! This sale is running through the end of September so head over to my e-design page before it's over!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday so I thought I'd try something new, Friday favorites! My goal is to post every Friday and talk about some of my favorite things lately.

My first favorite is something I've been wanting for awhile and we finally have a spot for it. A blanket ladder! I love the way these look and they're practical too. Not only can they be used to hang blankets but they can also be used to hold magazines by draping them over the rungs like a blanket. We don't have a fireplace so we can't hang our stockings on the mantle come Christmas time, so I thought it would look great hanging stocking on the ladder too.

I love this one from Joanna Gains' blog. I love the color of the wood and it's the perfect height.

Another favorite of mine lately is anything by Rae Dunn. I think I'm late to the party but I am obsessed. The designs are so clean and simple. Plus, there are so many items you can keep collecting them all! These are just three I found at magenta-inc.com. You can also find them at Homegoods, T.J. Maxx, and Marshalls.

I have also been loving candles lately. There is something really cozy about burning a candle when it's cooler outside and there are so many fun fall scents out right now. I love Bath and Body Works candles because their scents are always really good. I also love handmade candles from Etsy or ones that you would find at farmers markets. Right now I'm enjoying Pumpkin scented candles, but I am excited for Christmas ones! I know, it's way too early but I love Christmas! Until then I will continue to burn cozy fall scents and love it.

I could go on and on with things I love with fall here, but for now I will leave you with these three things.

Fall Decor

As we are entering into fall, it is the perfect time to switch things up in our homes. An easy way to do that is to add some fall colors. To do this you don't need to completely redo a room. There's no need to repaint walls or even get new furniture. Adding fall colors is as easy as switching up accessories. These can be pillows, picture frames, or even kitchen towels. It is really easy to change things up between seasons. I want to share some of my favorite ways to do this as well as some of my favorite colors for fall.

An easy way to switch up the look of a room is with pillows. Here are a few pillows that I found that add some fall feel to a room.

As you can see, these pillows aren't all the same pattern or color. There are different ways to incorporate fall. Autumn colors are a great way to transition into the season. Blues and oranges and golds are perfect. Another way is to add neutrals. Beige and grey work well. Plum is also a great fall color. Tribal prints are very popular for this time of year so adding some of those is a nice way to bring in the fall feeling. All of these pillows are from Target and would be a great addition to your fall decor.

Another great way to incorporate fall is with wall decor.

These are some really fun decorations all from Hobby Lobby. Each one has incorporated fall colors. Chalkboard art and wood are two great trends for fall. The banner would look great over a fireplace or even strung inside a large picture frame. It's fun to get creative with seasonal decor.

Last but not least let's talk about the kitchen. There are many ways to add some fall into your kitchen. One way is with towels. I've talked about it before; towels are a great way to change up the look of your kitchen. Here are some of my favorites.

I love these towels. The first one is perfect with the print. The color is a nice neutral which is great. The next one is a plaid and what's more fall than plaid. Then we have leaves. I love the white in the background with the beautiful fall colored leaves. Simple but still perfect for the season. Finally we have a turkey. Turkeys and plaid, that's fall! I love the colors in the towel, the gold and blue are so pretty together. These towels are from World Market and Kohls.

I hope this helped you discover some simple ways to transition your home into this next season. Fall is one of my favorite times of year and I love decorating for it.

Also, remember to check out my e-design services. Now is a great time to refresh your space and change up your look! If you're not sure where to start, contact me! I'd be happy to help!
