My Fall Colors

I am so excited that fall is right around the corner! This is my favorite time of year. It get's cooler out, football starts up, and you see pumpkin spice everything everywhere! What's not to love about fall?

This year I want to do something different with my decor. I don't want to use the same oranges and browns and deep reds. I want to do something lighter and different. Here is my color palette for this fall!

I love the combination of the blue-greys with the darker green-grey and the cream really lightens it up. My primary colors will be the lighter ones and I'll add the darker one as an accent.

I can't wait to start decorating!

DIY Magnolia Wreath

This is one of my favorite DIY's that I've done. It was so easy and looks a lot like the more expensive wreaths you will find! I made this one for around $15.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Natural wreath
  • Magnolia leaf garland
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors

Start with your wreath. I got mine from Hobby Lobby and it was around $5 I believe. There are different sizes so you can choose whichever size you want. I don't remember the exact size I got but it was a normal wreath size, comparable to other magnolia wreaths.

From here you want to take your magnolia leaf garland and start pulling leaves off.

Next you take your glue gun and place a dot anywhere on the wreath and attach the leaves.

You want to keep repeating this and your wreath will begin to look like this.

You wan all of the leaves to be going in the same direction. You can either glue the new leaves on top of the previous ones or under them. It doesn't matter really. As long as they are all going in the same direction and are layered. You don't want to see the stem part of the leaf, so as long as that is covered you're good.

Once all of your leaves are glued on, go back and cut off any stick pieces that are showing.

That's it! You now have a Magnolia Wreath for under $20!

There are so many different ways to style these wreaths, too. I hung mine from an old screen that I had found and painted white.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Let me know in the comments if you enjoy these DIY's and I will try to post more of them!

A Farmhouse Master Bedroom

We are in the process of redoing our master bedroom and just need to paint the doors and door knobs and add new trim. We have already painted the walls and I wanted to share with you my storyboard I put together!

This is my vision for our room. We have the bedding, pictured top left, and our bed. We also have the black sign and the window frame. Our wall color is Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and I love it! It's a light relaxing blue/green/grey. I want to do drop cloth curtains with black rods and add light lamp shades to go with our existing lamp bases. On my dresser I want to add some vintage pieces like old glass bottles and old books. I want the feel of the room to be relaxing and comfortable.

I am so excited to finish up this space! It already looks a lot different with the lighter walls compared to the green that was there before. The white doors and baseboards will help make the room feel even brighter. With only two windows, we need all the help we can get with brightness. That's why I chose a lighter bedspread and lighter paint color.

I love adding some natural feeling pieces as well, like the metal wall vase and the florals. I think it makes the room feel airy and relaxing.

I can't wait to share the after photos!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!

I'm excited to share some favorites with you all! Here we go!

Let's talk about these shorts first. They are from Old Navy and they are the best shorts you will ever wear. They're a linen blend and have a drawstring waist. Trust me, you will love them! This tank is also from Old Navy. I got a few last year and wore them all the time so I had to get a few more this year. They're so comfortable and I love the high neckline. I would say both of these items run true to size.

Next is this lotion from Bath and Body Works. It smells so good! It's not too heavy of a scent which I like, some scents give me a headache and this one does not. It's a great summer lotion.

Finally, let's talk about lemons. I think everyone is loving lemons this summer. These are from TJ Maxx but I've seen them at Target as well. I have them as a centerpiece on my dining room table right now, but the possibilities with these beauties are endless!

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my favorites right now! And seriously, go out and get these shorts and this tank, you won't regret it! :)

Summer Living Room Tour

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July! I love this holiday and am so grateful that we have two amazing families to share it with. We spent Sunday with John's family and Tuesday with mine. They were perfect days. Summer is so much fun and getting to spend time with family makes it that much more special.

I want to share a living room tour since I haven't done one yet. I want to get better about posting tours of our home. I love seeing other bloggers' homes so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Here is where our life happens!

There you go! This is our home! Well, part of it. I will be sharing more spaces soon!

For anyone wondering, the wall color is Silver Strand by Sherwin Williams. The metal floral wall hanging is from Hobby Lobby, the wooden pieces behind the couch are from an antique shop, as well as the screen. I made the magnolia wreath. The white pillows are from TJ Maxx, I made the linen and blue pillows, and the light blue pillows are from our bedding from Home Goods. The blanket is from Marshalls and was a recent purchase. The chair is from Target as well as the white cabinet. The blue vase and the cotton stems are from Hobby Lobby and the Nest sign is from Marshalls. The "Home" sign is from Kohls and the green plant is from Marshalls. I always like to know where stuff is from, so I hope this helped.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our living room!I will be posting another tour soon!
