A Modern Farmhouse Bathroom - Storyboard

I mentioned before that we are going to be redoing our upstairs bathroom and now it's that time! On Friday we will be quoting Chip Gaines, "It's demo day!" I'm so excited to see the end result!

This is how our bathroom looks right now. My husband started patching and sanding so that's what the white spots are on the walls. The walls are this pink/red/brown color that makes the room feel smaller than it is. The floor is a vinyl that is made to look like a stone with browns and tans. The vanity is probably the original with a brown vanity base and a light vanity top.

I can't wait to bring in some lighter colors and update this space to our modern farmhouse style!

Just like I do for my clients, I like to make a storyboard before we do a project. It helps me see what the space will look like and I can see the different products next to each other. Here is the storyboard I made for our full bathroom.

Bathroom Storyboard

We're painting the walls a lighter green/gray color and replacing the outdated floor with some wood look tile in a light brown.

We got a new vanity that's white with a white top. The bottom is open which will help make the room not feel so small. We chose to go with the same faucet we have in our downstairs bathroom. I love the simple classic look of it.

Instead of a towel bar, I want to use hooks to tie in the farmhouse style. I chose black to contrast all the light colors I have in here.

The light fixture is modern farmhouse and simple. I love it.

I have some wood and black shelves I'm going to put behind the toilet for extra storage. I got some glass and copper canisters from the Target dollar spot I'm going to use along with some copper wire baskets for even more storage.

For the rugs, I want to stay light and bright with some simple white bath mats.

I really wanted to tie in some rustic charm with the mirror. I'm not sure if we're going with this exact mirror, but we want the same look.

We're keeping our shower curtain because I love it so much! The colors tie in so nicely with the new design. I picked the wall color with this shower curtain in mind.

My overall feel for this bathroom is modern farmhouse, which is basically our entire house. I love the mix of farmhouse style with some modern elements.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my vision for our bathroom. I will share the after photos when it's done!

A Christmas Dining Room

I'm going to be posting a Christmas home tour soon, but I wanted to share my dining room with you now. I'm sticking to pretty traditional colors this year with the greens and reds and I love the added black accents. I wanted to incorporate texture and keep it pretty simple. I hope this gives you some inspiration for your own dining room!

I mixed a few different garlands for the table and added some cotton for a natural feel. The candle holder is from Target and I love it. The candles never seem to stay straight but it just makes it unique :)

The Farmhouse Christmas sign is from TJMaxx and I made the four Christmas saying signs. I also made the hoop wreath that's in the middle of them. I will do a tutorial for those if anyone is interested.

The Fresh Cut Christmas Trees sign is from the Target dollar spot and it's perfect on my blanket ladder.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a glimpse into our Christmas home! I will be doing a home tour soon!

Best Money Saving Tips for Christmas

With Christmas right around the corner, it's time for some Christmas shopping. I've put together a list of some great money saving tips to help you not break the bank this season. I'm all about decorating on a budget and affortable fashion, both for yourself and your home. So, when it comes to Christmas shopping I'm all about getting a great deal. Here are some of my favorite ways to save money around the holidays.

1. Shop Online

There are so many deals that different stores have around this time of year that are online only. Target and Old Navy are two stores that come to mind for these types of deals. Be sure to check stores' websites before you head out, there may be a great online only deal. Plus you get to shop in your PJ and avoid lines. WIN!

2. Target Cartwheel

If you're not using Target's Cartwheel App you need to be. I use this every time I go to Target, which is a lot. Our Target has groceries too so that's where I do a lot of my grocery shopping and the Cartwheel app has saved me a lot of money. All you do is scan the item in the app and it will tell you if there is a deal on it or not. You need this app. Trust me.

3. Target Gift Cards

Target often has sales where if you buy a certain number of something you get a $5 or $10 gift card. For example, there may be a deal where if you buy 3 Tide, Gain, Bounty or Charmin items as signed you will get a $5 gift card. You can then use that $5 gift card on a Christmas gift. If you do this throughout the year, you can have a stash of these gift cards saved up to do your Christmas shopping with.

4. Search Online for Discount Codes

Every time I shop online I search for discount codes from that store. For example, if I'm shopping at Ulta.com I will search online for Ulta coupon codes. A lot of times Retail Me Not will have some codes that work. I don't buy anything online without doing this.

5. Budget

This may sound obvious, but it's something that is so important to do. We make a budget all year round, not just for Christmas. But, if you don't do it for each month, at least try it for Christmas gifts. Set a spending limit for each person you're buying for, and stick to it! Writing it down or doing a spreadsheet on the computer will keep you accountable. Each time you buy a gift, record it in the budget. You can then see how much you have left to spend on each person. This is a great way to keep track of what you've spent so you don't go over budget.

All of these tips can be used all year round, but especially around Christmas time! I hope they help you save some extra money this year!

Three Thanksgiving Day Outfits

Thanksgiving is tomorrow! You may already have an outfit planned out, *cough cough me*, but incase you don't, I've put together three easy outfits that you may already have the pieces for! I love when that happens! Shopping your closet can be so fun!

Here are my Thanksgiving Day outfit ideas!

Thanksgiving Day Outfit

These jeans are my favorites! They are so comfortable and feel like I'm wearing sweatpants! They're perfect for Thanksgiving! This top is from Loft last year, but really any plaid shirt would give the same look. This top is a light almost sheer material so it's a bit more dressy. These boots are a favorite too. I love the neutral color. You'll notice all three outfits have the same jeans and boots. They may look familiar from this post

Thanksgiving Day Outfit

This cardigan is so pretty in person. It has a lace detail in the back and it flows so nicely. This sweater is no longer online but here is a similar one. It doesn't have the lace but it's a basic black long cardigan sweater that I think is a staple in your closet. The necklace is from Elizabeth Ashlie. It's no longer online, but I've linked some other ones here, here, and here

Thanksgiving Day Outfit

This is such a classic look. I love it. This sweater is so comfortable and the color is a great neutral. It's from last year and no longer online (I'm seeing a trend here lol) but I found similar ones here and here. This one is from Old Navy and I really like their sweaters so I wanted to find similar ones from there too. Any color would be great because the jeans and shoes are neutral and would go with any color.

I hope you enjoyed these easy Thanksgiving Day outfits. I love putting looks together with items I already have. Most of these pieces are staples and you may already have them in your closet. They're all comfortable and classic. Perfect for the holidays.

Gift Guide - Mom

It's time for another gift guide! I'm doing a gift guide for moms.

Enjoy!

I love Philosophy's Amazing Grace. It smells so good! It's a great light scent.

Slippers are always a good idea! This pair is comfortable and only $20.99!

You can never have too many blankets! This blanket is so soft and comes in a lot of colors and patterns.

This necklace is one of a kind! My sister and her mother-in-law make beautiful, unique jewelry and this is one of their pieces. You can personalize it with any photo! This is an example of our grandparents' wedding photo. I had a pendent like this on my wedding bouquet. I had each set of grandparents and it is such a great keepsake!. You could do kids' photos or a wedding photo, anything. This is something that will be cherished forever and would make a great gift!

Candles are always a great gift idea. This one is from the Magnolia Hearth and Hand line and smells really good!

Lastly, an oil diffuser is a great gift idea. I love using essential oils and so does my mom. I love having it going during the day or at night time. This is a great gift idea with maybe a few oils to go with it.

I hope you enjoyed this gift guide for moms. I tried to think of things my mom would like and would be great for any mom.

Which is your favorite?
